Icicles Regatta gets underway! Keen Sabot Sailors have been at Black Rock Yacht Club for the past four Saturday's for VSSA's Annual Icicles Regatta. Our coach, Gary McCleland, view on the third week's racing. Icicle Week 3 Wow what a day. Finally we get a day without extremes, after a blowout week 1 and a drifter week 2. Our guest coach was the famous Craig Cobbin now back in Melbourne. The wind was a nice 5-10 knots with all boats getting around the course in good time. The wind was really shifty and the waves very choppy. The debrief was very informative with all participating. Lessons learnt were use the heel or lean of the boat to assist turning, and sit forward in light weather. The first Sabot was James McLennan, followed by Eliza Solly Ollie Kalapokas, Massimo Fecht, and Natasha Van Rennes Ollie should have been first to the windward mark, he made an error and rounded the gybe mark instead having to make up lost ground. Well done to Natasha who traveled from Westernport for the series. The weather for week 4 is looking great and the coaches are ready to go, and I hear the sailors cant wait to get back into the action.
