Sabot sailors,
Welcome to the last Sabot enews from the now Immediate Past President. This role is shortly to be taken over by your new committee introduced to you at the recent AGM at Black Rock YC, and particularly by Mark Gray who dabbles in IT and websites in a professional capacity, and therefore should be a more capable web manager than I.
The 2007 State Championships are over for another year, won by Stephen Collings SSCBC but chased hard by both Nick Taylor BRYC and George Davies SSCBC. Full results for all but the Novice divisions can be found at http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/bryc_hmb/results/sabot/SGrp1.htm
Almost exactly 12 months older than Nick, but carrying considerably less height and weight, Stephen Collings showed appropriate coolness in a very tight contest. Going into the final session one point behind Nick, Stephen finished only three points in front in a nail biting final two races held in frustratingly light breezes. George showed that his firsts at the Nationals were no fluke either taking the last three heats in the lighter conditions.
The 2007 first female skipper went to Alison Dale from Sandringham YC, Junior One-Up Champion is Matthew Taylor BRYC, Junior Champions are Kate and Sam Hannah from Sorrento SCBC, whilst Novice Champion went to Mackenzie Bird from McCrae YC. The Junior Teams Trophy went to Black Rock YC, Senior Teams to Sorrento SCBC, and Overall Teams also to Black Rock YC. The Past Champions page on the website has now been updated to reflect these new winners – ref http://www.vicsabot.yachting.org.au/default.asp?Page=2783
Please get those yellow Coaching Forms back to Andy O’Connell asap so that planning for this season’s program can be completed quickly.
The next VSSA supported event is the 2007 Black Rock YC Icicle Series and Cock of the Rock which commences on 14 April and then for the next six Saturdays. More details to come.
In between times, Yachting Victoria is running a Youth classes clinic at Brighton to which all Sabots are invited – details can be found at http://www.vicsabot.yachting.org.au/?page=29032&MenuID=News%2F10537%2F0

Yours in sailing for the last time – it has been fun. I now hand over to another talented group of individuals who will form the next committee,
