Sailors and Families</p> <p> It is finally time to start the coaching season for the Victorian Sabot Sailing Association.</p> <p> We are happy to welcome Glenn Collings as the new head coach, and a host of other highly experienced sailors and coaches to continue this sensational program. In response to the coaching surveys that were returned for 2006, we have also implemented some changes that we hope are able to better cater for the needs of individuals and expectations of parents and children.</p> <p> Firstly we will be working with smaller groups. We have capped the group sizes at 10 (compared with 15 last year), to allow the coaches more personal time with each sailor. This allows the coaches to design individual programs for each sailor. We are developing a comprehensive approach to build skills, based on individual needs. However, as a consequence of smaller groups there has to be an increase in fees. By reducing group sizes from 15 down to 10 we incur an extra fee of around $4 per day per child. This appears to be minimal given that the group size is reduced by 1/3.</p> <p> The other major change is that Gold and Silver group will have the same amount of training days. Both kick off on Saturday May 19 at Black Rock Yacht Club and both have the same schedule for the entire year. This means that the cost for Gold and Silver is exactly the same and also allows coaches to move sailors through each level based on levels of performance. The program is outlined in the attached document (Sabot Class Coaching Calendar 2007).</p> <p> The cost of the program is as follows: <p> <b>Gold and Silver</b> Semester 1: May 19 - August 11, (8 Sessions mainly on Saturdays, including coaching for YV Junior Regatta but not including regatta entry), $320 - Due on first day of coaching. Semester 2: August 19 - December 8 (10 Sessions mainly on Sundays, including coaching for Sail Sandy and George MacCallum Cup but not including regatta entry), $400 - Due on first day of coaching. <p> <b>Bronze</b> Semester 1 & 2: June 2 - September 15, (9 Sessions including coaching for YV Junior Regatta but not including regatta entry), approximately $280 (More details on Bronze group to follow).</p> <p> Those who have already registered interest by returning a yellow “Expression of Interest” form need not respond to this email.
