Next VSSA Coaching Session
Please note that the next coaching session for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze groups will be on Sunday 12th August at Royal Brighton.
This will be the start of the VSSA Winterseries which will continue at Mordialloc Sailing Club.
The session at RBYC is the last session for Semester 1 for Gold and Silver. Semester 2 for Gold and Silver will commence the following weekend at Mordialloc on Sunday 19th August. Second semester fees will be due prior to commencement of the semester. Please select 'Whats On' (Main Menu) then follow the link to the Semester 2 Enrolment form.
Following the session at RBYC on Sunday 12th August, the Bronze group will have their next session at Albert Park Lake on Saturday 18th August.
YV Junior Team Selection Regatta
Last weekend we enjoyed the YV Junior Team Regatta at Albert Park Lake. Albert Sailing Club expertly ran the event and we were lucky with there being enough water below (in the lake) and no water from above (rain) for the two days of the event. The breeze was typical for the lake with tricky changes in wind speed and direction throughout each race. This made for some exciting races with boats taking massive gains and losses on each leg of each race. The eventual winner of the Sabot class was Stephen Collings with 2nd and 3rd places going to John Linacre and James Neeson.
Mark Jackson indicated at the presentation ceremony that from next year, the Junior Team Selection Regatta will be held in conjunction with the Youth Team selections at SYC. I hope the clubs at the lake can organise an alternative event as the lake sailing experience is useful, challenging, and enjoyable for the sailors, as well as a great venue for spectators.
