Sabot enews - states reminder and other news

Sabot sailors,

The Games are upon us, school holidays (for most) are underway, and competitive Sabot sailing has been taking its customary break over the long weekend – in theory to allow parents to have a well-earned break or to compete at their own championships.

Just a matters requiring your action:

  1. We are off to Blairgowrie this Saturday 18 March to assist the ex-Minnow sailors get to grips with their new Sabots. Aim is to be there 11.30/12 ish, help the kids rig their boats, do some trial sails, and join in a race with them in the afternoon. For those people planning to come back to town afterwards, the aim is to break the journey at McCrae and we will do a pizza at our place – details on Saturday. Rumour has it that Nick’s new boat may hit the water this Saturday as well.
  2. I hope that your entries to the State Championships at Brighton are now heading to Martin Sly if, for no other reason, to avoid the late fee! I have heard that a number of inter-state entries from NNSW will be joining us for the first weekend at least – we’ll be happy for them to join us, and hope more can make the trip. If anyone needs more information than can be found from the link below please call Paul Jenkins on 0410-479034.
  3. You will all be pleased to hear that the motion Victoria put up to the ANSC to amend the Nationals racing program for the coming Nationals at Sandringham this Christmas has been passed without dissent! As a result, we will doing a maximum of ten shorter races over five days rather than the old program of six long races over six days. Thanks to the Committee, and our prospective PROs Ross and Kevin Wilson for assisting us to get this through the ANSC – I suggest that the ANSC has considerable faith in the Wilsons and were comfortable that the trial be run by them.
  4. Latest news of the Nationals – Paul Pascoe has kindly agreed to do Results for us this Christmas. Paul as many know only does results for major events such as the Hobie worlds etc but as an ex-Sabot dad is very welcome back on the team. International juror Bill Bell has also agreed to be on our jury. Thanks Bill.

That’s your lot for now

Yours in sailing
