Sabot enews - return to the lake for Winter

Sabot sailors,

Getting chilly isn’t it? Winter must be close at hand….which of course means a shift from the Bay to Albert Park lake. Our time on the Bay and Black Rock’s 2006 Icicle Regatta finished up last Saturday with another light wind drifter – didn’t change the top few positions as usual, though a number of frustrated sailors did call it quits well before the finish.  There were 17 starters which was a great turnout – well done. Particularly good results for James Sly (picked the left hand side on the first beat), and Kate Jenkins showing the form that won her the Top Female Skipper at this year’s states. Full and final results can be found at http://www.vicsabot.yachting.org.au/default.asp?Page=22818&MenuID=Results/1268/0

The 2006 Winter Series commences this Saturday at the lake – all details can be found by following the link below – race starts at 2.00pm and follows the coaching program for all groups in the morning – more of this below.

Don’t forget 2006 Wintersail school holiday coaching program entry forms need to be in soon – details from the link below.

To those who have been timely in sending in your coaching payments, thankyou for you prompt attention to this matter. As a volunteer association your prompt action in these matters makes the administration of the program so much easier. There are still a few who are yet to finalise their payments. Unfortunately unless cash or cleared funds are received PRIOR to Saturday 9am unfinancial sailors WILL NOT be permitted to join their respective groups - cheques WILL NOT be accepted on the day.

All coach groups are at the lake on Saturday. Mark Jackson has sent an email to all outlining the day for all groups. Be ready for on water @ 10am. Email will be the ONLY form of communication you will get on this program. If you require the mail to be sent to multiple addresses please send them to me immediately and I will update the address groups.

You will usually receive at least one email between coaching dates from your Coach/es. These emails will keep you updated on the next training date and other aspects the group needs to be concerned with. It is vitally important that you respond to these emails confirming your attendance. The program the association has asked Mark Jackson to prepare this year requires significant logistical management in addition to the coaching component. It is very important that Mark knows how many will be attending from date to date to enable the program's logistical support to be prepared correctly.

Lastly, I know that Mark Jackson our Class coach, his coaching staff, and the rest of the VSSA committee join me in looking forward to meeting all of the new Sailors and Parents to this program. Please take the time to say hello and help out if you see someone who could use a hand.

See you Saturday,

Yours in sailing,

The Pres’
