Sabot sailors,
Time is now running down to Christmas and the upcoming Accor Premiere Vacation Club 43rd Australian Sabot Championships and Kevin & Ross Wilson Sabot Week Regatta.
Entry forms for the Championships (which can be located by following the link below) need to be in by 4 December so get on to it now. It is a big document (3mb), please read it all, together with the NOR, and complete all sections before submitting it.
As promised, the parents of all Victorian entrants to both regattas will be allocated certain administrative tasks over the regatta period – this could be assisting with measurement, regatta office (several roles here), registration, beach marshall, social functions etc, etc. Where possible we will allocate mums and dads of the same family “on duty” at the same time to minimise family disruption.
If Victorians or others would like to be involved in the more specialist “on-water” regatta administration, say being allocated to a mark boat, course boat, positions recorder etc please call me on 0417-832000 as these roles are hard to get, allow close-up viewing in an otherwise course-restricted area, and can be allocated on a day-by-day basis.
The 2006 Geo McCallum Cup is over and won – this year by Nick Taylor in Dark side of the moon from George Davies and Jeremy O’Connell. The predominantly light wind series tested the patience of a few, but rewarded those who could “weather” the mental stress. The Two-Up Cup was won by Ollie Kalpokas and Zac O’Connell, whilst the VSSA Geo McCallum Plate was awarded to Jack Felsenthal and Matt Cherubino – well done to all. See link below for full results.
As Go For Gold is on, we have a relatively quiet weekend planned this coming weekend….phew, the only event you should consider is the Royal Brighton YC Sunday Afternoon Series, on Sunday 3 December of course – see link below for details.
Club coaching for Gold, Silver and Bronze is back on 9 December – see the Calendar on the website, or call Ian Gillies if you have any queries.
That’s your lot for now,
Yours in sailing
