Sabot sailors,
Christmas is coming up fast – entries have closed for the Accor Premiere Vacation Club 43rd Australian Sabot Championships, but remain open for the Kevin & Ross Wilson Sabot Week Regatta. We will now populate the parent assistance/volunteer schedules and let you know soon what you are being requested to do to assist over the week or so of the event.
Preparation of the kids is in full swing commencing tomorrow, Saturday 9 December, with a VSSA club-based coaching day running out of Black Rock, Mordialloc and Port Melbourne – just go to your closest club. Sunday 10 December sees this program extend to Brighton (also to include Sorrento kids) to coincide with the YV Junior Team pre-nationals clinic. A separate timetable has been sent to all Gold, Silver and Bronze coach group members for the VSSA day – any queries call Ian Gillies on 0414-235002.
A final four-day coaching program is running from Sandringham YC between 18 and 21 December for members of all coach groups who will be attending either the Championships or Sabot Week – separate details will be sent on this soon.
Would those who sailed at Brighton last Sunday, at the RBYC Sunday Afternoon Series, please check to see if they have taken away the wrong sail? Alex McGuigan has lost an Irwin Sail no’ 4738 in a standard Irwin sailbag. Please call Jennifer McGuigan on 0408-321352 if you have accidentally picked this up off the lawn. See http://www.vicsabot.yachting.org.au/?page=25922&MenuID=News%2F10537%2F0 for results to date for this pre-nationals preparation event.
For those looking to get extra sessions on the bay before the Nationals, how about the Black Rock YC Twilight Series. Race starts for Sabots at around 6.20pm and the sea breeze is usually pumping – there is only one left before Christmas on 14 December.
That’s your lot for now
Yours in sailing
The Pres’
